JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help identifying a robbery suspect accused of using a stolen credit card.
A woman reported being robbed around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 while driving on Republic Road. As she approached the intersection of Brackett Loop, a dark sedan pulled in front of her and blocked the road, she told authorities.
A man got out of the car and approached while the sedan's driver stayed inside, Chief Deputy Randy Christian said.
The man threatened to shoot the woman if she didn't hand over her purse. Deputies say he did not show a gun, but kept his hand in his pocket as if he had one. The woman gave him her purse and was not injured.
About an hour later, the suspect used the woman's stolen credit card at a sporting goods store in Five Points West. Surveillance video captured images of the man.
Anyone with information about the suspect's identity is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 205-325-1450 or Crimestoppers at 205-254-7777.
