A Hoover woman is using her own experiences to show others that those with Down Syndrome can accomplish anything.

Ashley DeRamus is well-known locally as an advocate for those with Down Syndrome. Last month, she sat down with reporter Melanie Posey to speak about her new clothing line made just for women with the syndrome.

Thursday in Birmingham, DeRamus was again showing others that her accomplishments, and those of anyone with Down Syndrome, are limitless.

"It's a very cool dream come true," DeRamus said.

She will make her music video debut in a new music video for Grammy-award winning Christian music singer Jason Crabb. The song is titled, "Love is Stronger."

Many of the extra's in the video are local children who have Down Syndrome, which makes the video even more special to DeRamus. She plans to use the video through her Ashley DeRamus Foundation to raise awareness.

"It's really special to me to see lives changing...Down Syndrome is really not a disease, it's who you are," DeRamus said.

Crabb says the song is meant to inspire anyone dealing with a tough situation.

"Whatever the situation, everybody has obstacles, hurdles," he said. "You record a record, hope it touches lives [and] encourages someone."

DeRamus says another positive about the music video is that it gives local children a chance to do something they've never done before. Deanna Warren says it's been a special day for her daughter.

"With a lot of these kids, especially my daughter, she's come so far medically...just to see her out having fun with friends, it's heartwarming," Warren said.

DeRamus says her clothing line will be available soon online at http://www.ashleybydesign.com/.
