JEH JEH LIVE - American Idol auditions are underway. They are in Atlanta this week. The Atlanta Auditions will be at the Gwinnett Center (6400 Sugarloaf Parkway #100, Duluth, GA 30097). CLARE LIVE - The Ujima Math and Science Fun Day is this Saturday at the Public Library in Five Points West Just across from the CrossPlex. This Year's theme is 'Science is Corny' and kids will make flour and biscuits from plants around Birminghaand with modern farming. Dr Preston Scarber, along with Winfield and Elinor Burks  are here to show us some experiments...Since 2002, we have partnered with professionals who work in various fields of math and science and with the business community to offer fun, free or low-cost, and hands-on learning opportunities to children. With a special emphasis on serving minority children who live in inner-city and rural communities, we plan programs and workshops that give children the opportunity to see and interact with math and science in the real world.

LAND AID - On Fri­ day, July 26, join the Fresh­ wa­ ter Land Trust Junior Board for the 5th Annual Land Aid at Avon­ dale Brew­ ery from 7 p.m. until midnight. Guests will enjoy local bands and brews to help raise money for the Fresh­ wa­ ter Land Trust's efforts in con­ serv­ ing open spaces and waterways. The event will fea­ ture local bands, including:St. Paul and the Bro­ ken Bones, The Green Seed, & Sue Scrofa. Tick­ ets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. All pro­ ceeds ben­ e­ fit the Fresh­ wa­ ter Land Trust and its mis­ sion to pre­ serve the places that mat­ ter. And the Five Mile Creek Greenway Partnership is having its annual volunteer cleanup the next morning- in Graysville. The two are nicely tied together: come in the evening to enjoy music and fun to support the regional efforts of the Land Trust to protect our local creeks and create even more greenways and trails and open spaces and then the next morning to help clean the creek.
