HOLLYWOOD, AL (WAFF) -

A special dog in a Jackson County town is hoping to be the top cop in the US.

Approximately 70 dogs across the country are in the running, but she needs the support of other Facebook users to put her over the top.

Abi is a tough canine cop. She doesn't put up with drugs and tells her handler where they are. She doesn't put up with bad people, and will bite if required. For nearly two years, Abi has been in service with the Hollywood Police Department.

The photo contest is being held by Law Officer, a national publication for law enforcement agencies. Chief Jason Hepler hopes people will vote for Abi. He feels a win will be a great tribute to her work and the work of other K-9 units across the Valley.

"Abi's really helped us with the war on drugs," said Hepler. "We've got several really large drug busts. Recently, we've helped an Alabama State Trooper get about a pound and a half of cocaine off the street. Without her, we wouldn't have been able to get it because it was hidden in the engine compartment."

Chief Hepler said the winner receives a write-up in the national magazine and its website.

To vote for Abi, head to Law Officer's K-9 photo contest Facebook page. If you need help voting, a tutorial can be found here.
