Man airlifted to hospital after jumping off I-65 bridge

Troopers said the man jumped off the I-65 bridge near the Morgan/Limestone County line. Troopers said the man jumped off the I-65 bridge near the Morgan/Limestone County line.
MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

State Troopers said a man jumped off the I-65 bridge over the Tennessee River after being approached by Troopers while walking down the interstate near the Morgan/Limestone County line.

Troopers said the man fell 20 - 30 feet and landed on an area of the ground below. He was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital with injuries. 

Traffic came to a stand still as authorities closed northbound lanes of I-65, they have since reopened.

HEMSI divers were put on standby but were not called out to the scene.

    Good news for Cullman shoppers: several stores damaged in the March hail storm are set to open in the next couple weeks. The parking lot is still pretty empty, but the store signs are fixed, the roofs have been repaired, and instead of 'closed' signs, there are now signs that say 'coming soon.'
