LC's Collier says Elite 11 experience gives him "more confidence"

Lee County Trojans' QB Stephen Collier is back in Leesburg after competing at Elite 11 camp in Oregon last week.

The rising senior was competing against some of the nation's best high school quarterbacks for the title of Elite 11.

Collier didn't make the cut, but says the experience was one he'll never forget.

But don't let that fool you.

He says falling short of his goal has only motivated him more.

"Coach [Trent] Dilfer actually texted me after the selection and said he wanted me to prove him wrong, and he won't be satisfied unless I do," Collier says. "So I'm definitely going to work on doing that, and it adds a chip on my shoulder for sure."

Now, the Ohio State commit is back to the grind with his Trojan teammates.

He says he's employing many of the things he learned from current college and former NFL quarterbacks.

The biggest change he says he's making is with his mental approach, and says with all he's learned, he's just ready for the 2013 season to kick off.

"I just have so much more confidence now,  just learning all that stuff and just being able to transfer that back here," he says. "I'm just ready to use it and raise my game even more."

Collier totaled 33 TDs in 2012 for the Trojans, earning an All-Region 1-AAAAA selection.
