ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
The Etowah County Sheriff's Office has charged a Gadsden man for his brother's murder.
Shawn Derrick Williams, 37, has been charged with capital murder in the shooting death of his brother Jamey Brent Williams.
Williams was found dead in his car by some coworkers around 9:30 a.m. June 28. He didn't make it into work so Williams' employer went by his home and found him. The employer was the one to call 9-1-1.
Witnesses interviewed by deputies say they heard gun shots around 6:30 a.m. that morning.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Williams family during this difficult time," Sheriff Todd Entrekin said in a press release.
Shawn Williams has been a person of interest in the case since the day of the shooting. He was actually booked into the Etowah County Detention Center after assaulting a detention deputy while being held for questioning.
