ALZHEIMER'S LONGEST DAY
- On June 21st participants of The Longest Day® will join with the Alzheimer's Association® to honor those living with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers.  Alzheimer's disease is a growing epidemic and is the nation's sixth leading cause of death.  It is the only one in the top 10 without a way to prevent, cure or even slow its progression. The Longest Day is a sunrise-to-sunset team event to raise funds to fuel the care, support and research programs of the Alzheimer's Association.  Held on the longest day of the year, this event challenges participants to choose an activity and complete 16 hours in an effort to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's disease.  Angela Geiger from the Alzheimer's Association shared more with us today about how you can get involved in The Longest Day. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. More than 15 million Americans are Alzheimer's and dementia caregivers, fulfilling a financially, emotionally, and physically draining role. Alzheimer's disease is the ultimate thief - of memories, of independence, of control, and ultimately, of life.

OUR HOUSE - In Our House, we look at ways to weather proof your home. As the weather heats up, make sure you have weather stripping around windows and doors as well as proper insulation in your attic. That will help keep down cooling expenses. Meredith Jones and Steve Dickey show us how to weather proof our homes from leaks and heat. They recommend add sleeves to the ends of your downspouts to carry water away from the house, check your roof for nail pops, check the boots around the pipes on your roof for leaks, and make sure you have good weather stripping on your windows and doors.
