VET SPECIALIST - Dr. Jerome Williams joined us along with Dr. Cindy Grant with Animal Rehabilitation and Fitness Clinic. At Animal Rehabilitation and Fitness Clinic, Dr. Grant helps clients by providing the benefits of physical rehabilitation to their pets.  Physical Rehabilitation can help increase mobility after a severe orthopedic or neurologic injury, improve the quality of life of geriatric and arthritic patients, help pets obtain weight loss, minimize acute and chronic pain, increase the physical condition of athletic, working and sporting dogs, and give assistance to patients who need ambulation carts, orthopedic devices, or special wound covers.  Animal Rehabilitation and Fitness Clinic is equipped with an underwater treadmill for hydrotherapy, a class IV laser, an electrical stimulation unit, hot and cold therapies, various types of therapeutic exercise equipment, and massage therapy. If your pet has been diagnosed with an orthopedic problem, been bed ridden for a period of time due to an illness, suffered a fracture, is overweight, been diagnosed with a neurologic condition, an older dog that needs help getting up and moving around, an athletic, working or sporting dog that needs to maintain a competitive edge, or been diagnosed as having pain due to arthritis, age or a previous injury, physical rehabilitation may be for you. Dr. Grant became certified to practice veterinary spinal manipulation therapy in June 2012 after successful completion of a rigorous course (over 200 hours, not to mention all the studying) and a practical and written certification examination.  She attended the courses offered by Healing Oasis Wellness Center.  The school has been in existence since 1999 and has achieved several state and national approvals and accreditation. CAYLEE'S LAW - State Representative Juandalynn Givan and Senator Bryan Taylor join Gov. Bentley today to sign into law "Caylee's Law." This act known as "Caylee's Law" is a child protection act that creates an affirmative duty for custodians of children to report a child as missing to law enforcement officials under certain circumstances. The act imposes a duty on a custodian of a child to report a child as missing if the custodian does not know where the child is and has reason to believe any of the following:
1. that the child is missing,
2. that the child is lost,
3. that the child has been abducted,
4. that the child has been harmed or abused,
5. that the child has run away from home.
A custodian who fails to make a report in any of these circumstances can be charged with a Class C felony if the child suffers serious bodily harm or death. A custodian who fails to make a report in any of these circumstances can be charged with a Class A misdemeanor if the custodian acted with willful or reckless disregard for the safety of the child. It is a defense to prosecution under the act if the custodian made reasonably diligent efforts to verify the whereabouts and safety of the child during any delay in making the report.
