A former narcotics task force officer is charged with embezzling seized money.
Jeff Snyder is the former commander of the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force. He's charged with stealing at least $125,000 that was originally seized by the task force.
U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance, along with the FBI announced the charges and a plea agreement reached with Snyder. Both sides agreed to an 18-month prison sentence.
According to the plea agreement Snyder was responsible for depositing the money seized in drug busts, but instead he pocketed some or all of the funds seized beginning in June 2010.
Snyder is from Carrollton, and was a 29-year veteran of the Tuscaloosa Police Department. He retired in 2012. The FBI is calling this an isolated incident.
