BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham Police have arrested a mother accused of firing a gun at a middle school campus.
Cassandra Abrams, 36, is charged with reckless endangerment and "certain persons forbidden to possess firearms."
Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams also says Abrams had marijuana and a controlled substance in possession when she was arrested. Williams says police expect to charge her with possession of those substances as well.
This is all connected to an incident that happened in the front lawn of Ossie Ware Mitchell Middle School Monday afternoon.
The parents of two students at the school say Abrams' daughter attacked them after class Monday. As that family was trying to leave, the father says Abrams blocked him in with her car and got of of the car yelling.
Herman Simpson says his daughters jumped out of their car and got into an argument with Abrams that eventually lead to a fight. FOX6 News obtained exclusive cell phone video of the fight. The situation escalated and that is when Abrams can be seen on the video going into her car and grabbing a gun. She can be seen pointing the gun at a group of people and then firing into the ground nearby.
No one was injured in the shooting.
