Gadsden PD investigates 2 unrelated armed robberies

Gadsden police are investigating two unrelated armed robberies reported within a few hours of each other.

The first robbery was reported to police around 8:16 p.m. Saturday, May 11. A 39-year-old man told police he was walking on Goss Avenue when two white males armed with guns approached and told him to empty his pockets. The man said the suspects stole $20 from him and hit him on the head before fleeing the scene.

Captain Bobby Jackson said the reporting officer noted inconsistencies in the victim's story. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

The second robbery reportedly happened around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, May 12. A 22-year-old man reported that he was robbed at gunpoint while driving across Meighan Blvd. Bridge.

The victim told police that he was driving westbound when two of his acquaintances pulled in front of him and stopped. The men allegedly ran up to the victim's vehicle, pointed handguns at him and demanded money. The victim said the men took $296 from him and fled the scene.

Police say the investigation into this case is also ongoing.
