BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A woman in the Birmingham area lost her 14-year-old son on Mother's Day.

Authorities say Tytiwaan Ard was thrown from a truck during a crash Sunday. It happened on the off ramp of I-59 at exit 120.

Officers say the son was riding with his father and they were on their way to pick up his mother from Faith Chapel Christian Church.

The father is expected to be okay. Family and friends gathered at the accident site Monday where there are now flower and balloons.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
