Family, friends and co-workers said goodbye Friday to a volunteer firefighter who died while battling a blaze.
Assistant Chief Stanley Martin, Jr. was remembered as a rock of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department in Greene County.
"Anything that he could help you do, he was willing to do...He'd go an extra mile," Springfield Volunteer Fire Department Chief George Henderson.
Martin was operating some equipment when the 71-year-old complained of shortness of breath. He stopped breathing and was pronounced dead at Greene County Hospital.
At least 10 fire trucks from departments in and outside of Greene County lined up on main street as part of Martin's funeral procession.
Martin leaves behind a wife, three children and three grandchildren.
