Woman injured in Bessemer shooting

BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) -

Bessemer police officers are investigating a shooting that injured a female passenger inside a car on Fairfax Avenue.

Police say two suspects followed the victim's car from a gas station before at least one suspect fired off shots from their car into the other car that had three people inside. The driver of the victim's vehicle and a small child inside were not injured in the shooting.

The female victim, who has not been named, was treated at the scene by paramedics and  transported to a hospital. There is no update yet on her condition.

The shooting happened around 11:20 a.m. Thursday, May 9 in the 15000 block of Fairfax Avenue.

Police say they do not yet have a motive in the shooting. Detectives are still following up on leads.
