Banana-Strawberry Breakfast Kobbler

For the Kobbler:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
4 ripe bananas (sliced)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
For the topping:
2 cups sugar
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups self-rising flour
1 cup quick oatmeal
Preheat oven to 375.
Melt butter in a large sauce pan. Add in strawberries, bananas, sugar, brown sugar, & vanilla extract. Cook on medium heat, stirring lightly, until sugar is melted and begins to develop an amber glaze.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, buttermilk, and flour for the topping. After it is incorporated add in the oats and stir. With a spatula pour the mixture evenly over the bottom of the casserole dish. Pour strawberry-banana mixture evenly over the topping. It should drop to the bottom, but if any fruit remains push them under the mixture with a spoon.
Bake @ 375 until golden brown (45 minutes - 1 hour).
