BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A Birmingham mother is facing multiple charges after a video surfaced showing her encouraging her daughter and another girl to fight.

Birmingham Police have charged Meshannona Jackson, 36, with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and fighting in public.

Police were called to the scene of the fight Monday, April 15 in the 700 block of Avenue West. They were unable at the time to locate any of the involved parties.

The incident came back to police's attention after a citizen shared a video of the girls, and even Jackson, fighting in front of the store. The video shows Jackson telling one of the girls, "Get it!" which Sgt. Johnny Williams say was her way of encouraging the girls to fight. He says that at one point, Jackson even joins the fray, hitting the other girl.

Williams says that Jackson surrendered to police Wednesday, April 17. Jackson's daughter has also been charged with fighting in public.
