Covington Co. Sheriff’s Office hosts “COPS ON TOP” fundraiser

The Covington County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce that they are the "Host" agency for the local "COPS ON TOP" fundraiser to benefit the Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics of Alabama.  This is the 28th anniversary of the ALETR. Law Enforcement officers from agencies from around the area will be on scene to assist in the fund raising. This event will be held at Wal-Mart in Andalusia on April 19th beginning at 9:00 a.m. and lasting until April 20th at 5:00 p.m.

In 1985 Law Enforcement officers from 10 different agencies through out Alabama organized the first Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run. In 2012, the ALETR raised more than $100,000 dollars statewide to benefit the Special Olympics. The funds that are raised annually support the year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The Torch Run is committed to assist with the raising of funds and public awareness for Special Olympics.

Again, we ask that you come out on April 19th and 20th to help us support this worthy cause.
