BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A Birmingham police officer was injured in a wreck on I-59 near Arkadelphia Road Tuesday morning.

The officer's patrol car rolled into the grassy median between the north and south-bound lanes. It is unclear which direction the officer was traveling.

The officer was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Police have not yet released any other information about the wreck.

The interstate has been cleared of the wreck and is now open.
