3 Birmingham officers cut while arresting a suspect

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Three officers were cut with a box cutter and a fourth was pushed off of a deck by a woman they were attempting to arrest.

The four officers were executing an oustanding robbery warrants for Sister Shemeco Tawan Riley, 38 of Birmingham when the incidents happened. Sgt. Johnny Williams says that when the officers approached Riley's door, she exited with the box cutter and struck three of the officers. She also pushed a fourth officer from the elevated deck.

The three officers who were cut were taken to UAB for treatment. The fourth officer received treatment at the scene but had additional treatment at UAB.

Riley was arrested on the outstanding robbery warrants and investigators expect to file four charges of attempted murder of a police officer.
