One woman did everything you're supposed to when safely selling an electronic online but thieves still managed to steal from her.

Keri White says when she went to meet a buyer for her phone in a busy Walmart parking lot with her fiancee's mother, she didn't expect the man to just walk up and take the phone.

She put her phone up for sale and received many offers, but the man made her one she coudn't refuse.

"He offered me more than I was asking," White said.

So she and her fiancee's mother met the man in the parking lot of a Gardenale Walmart and the women say he walked right up to the car and took the phone from White's hand.

"I was shocked," White said. She says the man then took off running towards his car, a silver Impala.

The women called police and tried to follow the car but lost them because of traffic and rain. Brian Lynch with Gardenale Police says that they've had several complaints about similar situations. He says the continuing problem with sites like craigslist is that you just don't know who you're dealing with.

It's a lesson White thought she could avoid.

"I brought somebody with me, I came to a crowded place and it still happened to me," White said.

There are several security cameras in the Walmart parking lot and Gardendale Police tell FOX6 News that they have requested footage to try and track down these thieves.
