A Harrison County man was shot during an argument over a vehicle repair, Sunday.

Harrison County 911 operators received a call for an ambulance and assistance regarding a shooting that had occurred around 10:10 p.m., at 12988 Highway 154 in Harleton, Sunday.

When deputies arrived they observed a subject identified as Johnny Deskus, 49, shot in the left thigh.

The assault allegedly began with an argument over a vehicle repair after the suspect, Chance Godwin, 28, stopped his car in front of a residence on Highway 154 and advised the owner of the house that he was going to have to repair a power steering pump before he could continue driving the vehicle.

The owner of the house said he could park in their driveway while working on the vehicle. The suspect and the victim began working on the vehicle and an argument ensued between the pair regarding the work being done.  Deskus reportedly displayed a stun gun and suspect Godwin allegedly removed a pistol from the truck and reportedly fired a shot from a .40 caliber pistol at Deskus, hitting him in the left thigh.

Johnny Deskus was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital Marshall, for treatment of the gunshot. Chance Godwin was arrested at the scene and placed in jail for a second degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The weapon was recovered at the scene. Bond was set at $50,000 by Judge Alford.
