CLARE LIVE - The Westin Birmingham's 194 associates officially begin their new jobs today in anticipation of the February 14 opening of the hotel. The hotel leadership team welcomed associates with a red carpet kick-off event. Associates began arriving at 7:45 a.m. and were greeted in grand style with a red carpet walk, music and lobby celebration.
JEH JEH LIVE - Jeh Jeh joined us live with some of the performers in the production of "9 to 5" going on now at the Virginia Samford Theatre. The production is directed by Norton Dill and features Emily Herring, Kristi Tingle Higginbotham, Jan D. Hunter & Kyle Holman. "9 to 5: The Musical" is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. It tells the story of three unlikely friends who conspire to take control of their company and learn there's nothing they can't do -- even in a man's world. Outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. Virginia Samford Theatre is located at 1116 26th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35205. Tickets are $30 and $35 each. Shows are at 7:30pm tonight & tomorrow, as well as, February 2nd, 7th, 8th, & 9th. Shows begin at 2:30pm on Sunday the 3rd and 10th of February. For tickets or more information call (205) 251-1206 or visit http://www.virginiasamfordtheatre.org/.
GO RED FOR WOMEN - Tomorrow, February 1st, is the biggest single day of the year for the American Heart Association here in the central Alabama. That day marks the tenth anniversary of National Wear Red Day and Go Red For Women, as well as the beginning of American Heart Month and the local Red Couch Campaign. The American Heart Association's Birmingham office is marking the tenth anniversary of Go Red For Women with a special campaign that encourages survivors and those impacted by cardiovascular diseases to speak out and share their stories. More than one dozen locations throughout the Birmingham metro area have been selected to host the campaign's signature red couch throughout the month of February. The goal is to encourage those impacted by cardiovascular diseases to share their stories and help raise awareness of the nation's No. 1 health threat. Staff and volunteers from the AHA will be on-hand to film those who wish to share their stories on camera and a special YouTube channel has been set up to host those stories. At each appearance, information on how to prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases will be distributed. Find out where you can catch up with the couch at FollowThatCouch.com.
