ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

All three of the school boards in Etowah County will consider a series of recommendations about school safety.

Today members of a school safety task force issued recommendations for all of the area's public schools.

Their findings include having Sheriff Todd Entrekin inspect all of the schools and review school safety plans. They want to make sure all schools have resource officers, audio and video surveillance and communications equipment.

Plus, they're looking for money to pay for it all. The superintendents of Gadsden, Etowah County and Attalla plan to take these plans to their school boards within the next two weeks.

"We're going to come back to the table again on February the 19th, and really discuss who we need to take this plan to next, and to see what kind of funding, resources, need to be in place to make sure that this plan can be implemented," Task Force spokesperson Natalie Barton said.

Superintendents say there are some new things in the master plan, but for the most part they emphasize the same priorities already in their security plans.
