Vestavia Hills leaders looking to move to shopping center

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL (WBRC) -

Vestavia city leaders are looking at moving their city hall into a shopping center. They are currently considering a proposal to move their operations into the shops at the Vestavia Hills City Center.

The proposal is to buy approximately 40,000 square feet of vacant space in the city center and then build a 50,000 foot adjoining wing.

Vestavia Hills City Manager Randy Robertson says nothing has been settled yet. He also adds that this is definitely the direction the council wants to go in.

"The council has heard various options about stand alone facilities and other sites. They've heard a lot and of all the things they've heard… this appears to be the most viable way, at this point, to start trying to throw numbers and work out deals," said Robertson.

As for why city leaders want to move, Robertson says they are outgrowing the current facility and it's outdated.
