GARDENING - Jimmy Rockett joined us this morning. Did you know that too much rain and snow can spell weed disaster for your grass. Jimmy shows us how to battle the new weeds. He says it is important to use a pre emerge that is labeled for poe annua and henbit, which are weeds that are up right now. Even if they are up, Jimmy says it is important to reapply the pre-emerge again to prevent future weeds. Jimmy says it is always good to read the label of your pre emerge to make sure it covers the weeds you have. He also says to match the bag coverage with your square footage of your lawn. It is okay to be a little heavy on the bag but not okay to be thin with the product as you will have more weeds and be frustrated as to why it did not work. Jimmy says also to mark on your calender as to when you applied the product so you will know when the next application should go down. Also, there are some products that work good on weeds when the temperature is above 50 degrees. Jimmy says Atrazine is one of these and can be found at your local garden center. For more information, call Jimmy at (205) 981-1151, email him at firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit www.rockettsbugjuicegardens.com.
