TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

The 2012 National Championship University of Alabama football team has made their triumphant return to Tuscaloosa. The Delta flight touched down around 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday as fans gathered around the fence line to greet the champs' arrival.

The pilot of the flight could be seen waving an Alabama flag while sitting in the cockpit as the doors opened. Terry Saban was the first person off the plane, closely followed by Coach Nick Saban. The coach and his wife wandered off the runway to greet the fans, but were immediately surrounded by the media's attempts to get sound bites from the coach. Saban did not linger long before getting into his black Mercedes to head home.

Quarterback A.J. McCarron came near enough to the edge of the runway to wave at fans before walking back to board the bus to the university. McCarron was seem wearing some kind of brace on his right leg. This is believed to be necessary after McCarron's leg received the full weight of one of the Notre Dame defenders on one play.
