BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham police are asking for the public's help in locating a missing man who has mental health issues.

Police say Christopher McNealy was last seen by his family on October 18. He was known to hang out around the Five Points South fountain and lived a transient lifestyle, even though he has a home.

"He's more of a gentle giant. He just goes around and socializes with people in the transient community," Birmingham Police Sgt. Anthony Williams said.

McNealy is 46 years old, weighs 175 pounds and is 5'10". He has partially gray hair and brown eyes.

Sgt. Williams said McNealy hasn't been taking his medication since he went missing. He's not considered dangerous, but police are anxious to find him.

Anyone with information about McNealy's location is asked to call Birmingham police at 205-297-8420 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
