Wetumpka Staffing Agency to fill more than 100 jobs in New Year

Despite the uncertainty of the looming fiscal cliff, there are positive signs on the job front as we head into the New Year.  Nearly 26% of companies nationwide say they're preparing to add more full-time employees in 2013.  And the trend is holding true for some local businesses as well.

As we get ready to ring in the New Year, the phones are ringing off the hook at Allegiance Staffing in Wetumpka.

Staffing Coordinator Caitlin Haskins said, "Most of the people that call are unemployed.  Some are looking for a career change, but most people do not have jobs."

Haskins says they're planning to fill more than one hundred manufacturing jobs starting in January, out of their Wetumpka and Montgomery branches.

"We have a company here in Wetumpka that is going to have a project starting up at the beginning of the year.  It's going to last 4 months, and then they have another project starting after that that is going to require even more manpower.  And so they are hoping to start up a steady manufacturing flow from there," Haskins added.

That same optimism is being felt across the country as well.  Robert Sumichrast, from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, said, "We are going to see employment growth in everything. Business services and professional services will lead the pack. The only thing that is going to be losing jobs will be government."

But as we close in on January 1st, business analysts say, that growth is hinging on decision making in Washington.

"One of the big things that is underpinning our forecast for continued growth is not going over the fiscal cliff," said Sumichrast.

Back in Wetumpka, however, Haskins says neither hiring managers nor job applicants are letting it stop them from turning over a new leaf in the new year.

Haskins said, "2013 is going to be a much better year.  We are optimistic.  There are new companies that we are working with, so we are hoping for a much better year than 2012."

If you are interested in applying for the 100 plus manufacturing jobs, you can apply at Allegiance Staffing at either their Montgomery Branch at 1231 Suite B, Perry Hill Road or their Wetumpka Branch at 625 Coosa River Parkway.
