South and Central Alabama facing tornado watch

The FOX6 StormWarn Team says a tornado watch has been called for Central and South Alabama on Thursday morning and is expected to last until noon.

The majority of the tornado threat is in the south part of the state, but residents of central Alabama should still be wary.

After the tornado threat passes, the storms should push to the east by early afternoon and will leave behind a windy day. A wind advisory will be in effect until 8 p.m. Gusts could reach speeds of 40-50 mph.

North Alabama can expected damaging straight-line winds as the cold front moves through.

Cold air moves in tomorrow morning. The morning temps are expected to be in the high 20's-low 30's.
