SHELBY COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Shelby County officials are investigating a string of vehicle break-ins and at least one vehicle theft reported in the same area overnight.

Nine vehicles were reportedly broken into and a truck was reported stolen between Monday night and Tuesday evening. Most of the break-ins were in residential areas off of Highways 280 and 119.

Shelby County Sheriff's deputies tried to pull over a car seen in the area near the break-ins early Tuesday. When the suspect refused to stop, deputies gave chase until the suspect crashed near Cahaba Valley Road and Eagle Crest Drive.

Officials say two black males exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Law enforcement are still searching for them, and the sheriff's office says they should be considered armed and dangerous.

The vehicle break ins were reported at the following locations:

-Four in the 1100 Block of Eagle Park Road

-One in the 200 Block of Brook Green Lane

-One in the 1500 Block of Southern Drive

-One in the 200 Block of Highland View Drive

-One in the 300 Block of Brook Geen Lane

-One in the 1600 Block of Indian Springs Lane

The truck was stolen in the 1100 Block of Eagle Park Road

The sheriff's office says investigators are still in the area and "more reports are still coming in as residents discover additional cars broken into."

In addition to the break-ins, three handguns, one hunting rifle and an iPod were also stolen.

Officials believe the suspects who stole the truck were the same ones involved in the chase. Birmingham police found the truck abandoned in Wylam this morning, minus the hunting rifle that was inside.
