Operation Santa Claus hands out Christmas cheer

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Operation Santa Claus had kids bouncing with excitement this morning. It is all in an effort to bring Christmas presents and joy to about 1,000 local children. Santa gave his reindeer a day off this morning, and rode into town with the Shreveport Fire Department.

Operation Santa Claus is a joint effort between the Shreveport Fire Department, Police Department, Bossier Sheriff's Office, TownSquare Media, and hundreds of you. The program has been filling a room with donations for Santa to hand out to the kids for Christmas.

Good news for Cullman shoppers: several stores damaged in the March hail storm are set to open in the next couple weeks. The parking lot is still pretty empty, but the store signs are fixed, the roofs have been repaired, and instead of 'closed' signs, there are now signs that say 'coming soon.'
