The following is an editorial from FOX6 WBRC-TV General Manager Lou Kirchen, first aired on Tuesday, October 30, 2012:
I'm sure you have seen many reminders to go vote next Tuesday. It's a citizen's duty…it's an amazing privilege many in the world do not have. I believe our forefathers who made voting an integral part of our political system assumed that their countrymen who voted would be thoughtful and knowledgeable in the process…that Americans would not go blindly to the polls without a clear understanding of the issues facing our country.
How do you prepare to vote? Where do you get your political information? Do you expose yourself to the views of those on all sides of the issues important to you, or do you listen and or read the views of only those who agree with you?
Whether you are a proponent for our current leadership or ready for a change, you can't influence the outcome unless you go to the polls to vote. We have eleven statewide constitutional amendments on our ballot this year. What do you know about those proposed amendments? Please go vote…thoughtfully!
