BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Do 14 hospital gurneys plus 56 students equal a race to the ER? Not quite.

The gurney derby is a long time tradition for homecoming week at UAB. All 14 teams had two men and two women.

The teams raced their gurneys down 13th street near University Blvd. Before running back, racers were required to switch arms and not turn the gurney around.

The winning team this year was the "Jennings Bow Tie Bandits."
