RAGLAND, AL (WBRC) -

A 14-year old boy was charged with murder in the death of his half-sister could be tried as an adult.

The teenager was charged in May after nine-year-old Katelynn Arnold was found hanging from a tree outside her home near Ragland.

St. Clair County District Attorney Richard Minor says they are waiting for the results of a mental evaluation before deciding whether or not to charge him as an adult in the death of his half-sister.

Minor says those findings should be available in November.

Authorities say the boy told investigators he hanged the girl intentionally. Katelynn and the boy were living together with relatives when she died.
