Milton and Ballagas are surgery specialists offering orthopedic surgery (fracture repair, joint disease, ligament/tendon disease, etc.), general surgery (tumor removal, abdominal/thoracic surgery, wound reconstruction, etc.), and spinal surgery (disc herniation, spinal fracture, etc.). - Do you know what kind of grass seed to put on your lawn? Jimmy Rockett with Bug Juice Gardens joined us with some advice. Jimmy says there are a few tips for overseeding your lawn. First, overseeding tears up or helps weakens the turf roots. So, if you have full sun and can water and feed, and you have bermuda grass, then you would be ok to overseed. But if you do not, he would not recommend it. Also, timing is everything! Mid September to mid October is the best time to overseed. The third tip - when you overseed, do not pre emerge. Wait at least six weeks before using any pre emerge. The same is true for the opposite - if you have pre emerged, wait at least six weeks before applying the grass seed. Remember to water lightly after you put the seed down as this will help the seed to expand and begin rooting. If you have more questions for Jimmy, call him at (205) 981-1151, email him at, or visit
