The following is an editorial from FOX6 WBRC-TV General Manager Lou Kirchen, first aired on Tuesday, September 4, 2012:
Time well spent…what does that mean to you? Maybe it's working the extra hours it takes to get that promotion or just to make ends meet, rushing from here to there for meetings, or cleaning your home until it sparkles…all good things. We are all so busy these days that time just seems to get away from us…its spring and before you know its fall and football season again.
Actually I think time well spent is time that is spent in balance. And personally, I know how hard balance is to find. Time well spent and in balance is reading, fishing or baking cookies with your children or grandchildren…its finding time to say "Thank you" for kindness shown or a service well done…its finding time to take care of yourself so that you can effectively meet all of your commitments…its making time for prayer and reflection.
Time is a funny concept. When you are young, you think…"Oh, I'll get to that later. I have all of the time in the world." Old Father Time just sits back and grins…"Uh huh". And before you know it time is short. I wish you time well spent.
