McIntosh wins class 1A girls' basketball championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Kaela Adams had 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead McIntosh to a 48-39 victory over Holy Spirit Thrusday in the Class 1A girls championship game at the BJCC Arena.

McIntosh (25-1) lost to R.A. Hubbard in last year's finals and won its first state title since capturing its second straight in 2007.

Adams made four straight free throws over the final 43 seconds to ice the win. Amber Roberts had 11 points for McIntosh while Shelby Weaver collected six points, 11 rebounds and eight blocked shots.

Kaitlyn Taylor scored 22 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead Holy Spirit (32-2), which made just 17 of 90 field goals (18.9 percent). Holy Spirit attempted 37 3-pointers, making four.

McIntosh scored 12 straight points after falling behind 9-4 in the opening minutes, building a 28-15 halftime lead that Holy Spirit couldn't overcome despite a strong second half.
