COPY-Tornado watch issued for Northern Alabama

As severe weather begins to creep into the FOX6 viewing area, meteorologist J.P. Dice says tornadoes are not the biggest concern from the weather system.

"The biggest threat is damaging winds, but we could still be dealing with some tornadoes," said Dice.

Just before 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, a tornado watch was issued for Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker and Winston counties. The watch is set to expire at 9:00 p.m.

Dice adds that he does not believe the weather will disrupt the airing of American Idol tonight.
