Tickets on sale for Bartow Classic Jan. 7

The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and UAB Men's Basketball will team up Saturday, Jan. 7  at 8 p.m. for the third Bartow Classic. UAB Athletics will donate $2 for every ticket sold, including season tickets, to benefit the Coach Gene Bartow Fund for Cancer Research.

In addition to helping the fund, UAB uses the game as a vehicle to raise awareness about the importance of supporting cancer research and patient programs at UAB.

Bartow is considered by man to be the "founding father" of UAB athletics, and was the director of athletics from 1977 until 2000. He developed the program to include 17 sports and also coached the Men's Basketball team from 1978 to 1996. He ranks in the top 20 winningest NCAA Division I basketball coaches. He is currently undergoing treatment for stomach cancer at the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Tickets are $27 for lower level for lower level reserved seats and $22 for upper level reserved seats. They can be purchased online at UABSports.com or by calling 205-975-8221.
