Hot Dog Recipe from the morning show Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011:
- 1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal
- 1 cup AP flour
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 8 skewers
- 8 hot dogs
- Oil for frying
Whisk the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, dry mustard, and salt in a large bowl.
Beat the milk, eggs and canola in a separate bowl and add the cornmeal mixture
Heat oil in a stockpot to 350 degrees F.
Skewer each hot dog on an 8-inch wooden skewer.
Dip the hot dogs into the glass of batter; let the excess drip back into the glass,
Fry 4 to 5 minutes per dog.
