ANNISTON, AL (WBRC)
The funeral for fallen Anniston Police Officer Justin Sollohub began today at 2 p.m. at the Harvest Church of God in Anniston. Family members, friends and fellow law enforcement officers gathered Monday afternoon to bid farewell to the 27-year-old police officer killed in the line of duty last week.
Hundreds of law enforcement officers from Alabama, Georgia and Florida attended the service. Former Anniston police officers and members of other law enforcement agencies volunteered to patrol the streets of Anniston during the funeral, allowing the Anniston police department to say farewell to Sollohub.
Inside the church, Sollohub's coffin was placed between the U.S. Honor Flag that previously had flown at Ground Zero, and a collection of Sollohub's badges worn while he was on the Anniston police force.
Fox 6 Reporter Melanie Posey took these photos before the service started. She will have more on the officer's funeral tonight at 5 and 6 p.m.
