Reward offered in case of missing Carbon Hill man

The Governor's Office is now offering a $5,000 reward in the case of Eric Ruiz, who has been missing since January of this year.

The 24-year-old from Carbon Hill has not been seen or heard from since Jan. 13, when he last spoke to his girlfriend. After police began investigating Ruiz's disappearance, they became even more concerned when his cell phone was discovered in nearby Marion County, but found no other evidence of the missing man.

Investigators are treating Ruiz's disappearance as a possible case of foul play. Officials hope the offer of a reward will shed some light on Ruiz's whereabouts.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Walker County Sheriff's Office at 205-302-6464.
