Real estate business in Hoover surges

Homes sales were down 16% in March compared the that time last year in Birmingham.
There is one area that's seeing some luck during challenging times.
Realtors in Hoover are having a lot of success.

In the James Hill neighborhood in Ross Bridge, lots of homes are being built and there sold signs seen everywhere.

Dwight Sandlin, CEO of Signature Homes, says declining property values have actually led to a boom in new home sales.

Sandlin said, "As property values decline new home prices have gotten much more competitive. Now you can move into a new home for the same dollar as an existing home."

Dorothy Tayloe, Director of Sales and Marketing at Ross Bridge, said "If I had to tell you one great success of ours it's keeping different price ranges available which brings a in wide range of people."

Low interest rates have also had a lot to do with the success of home sales in Hoover.
Chace Lake, Water's Edge, and The Preserve, all in Hoover, have also had strong sales.
There's been such a demand for homes here in Ross Bridge that there will be another new neighborhood built here to accommodate the buyers.
