OPELIKA, AL (WBRC) - The victims in the shooting at Southern Union State Community College have been identified and the relationship between the shooter and the victims further defined by the Opelika Police Department. More charges have also been added for the shooting suspect, Thomas Franklin May III, the 34-year-old man from Auburn who was taken into custody around 6:52 p.m. Wednesday.
May has been charged with the following:
-capital murder for the murder of Brenda Marshall Watson, age 62
-attempted murder for the shooting of Bethany Lynn May, age 34
-attempted murder for the shooting of Maude Ethell Marshall, age 93
-attempted murder of Mays' four-year-old daughter who was in the van during the shooting
-shooting into an occupied vehicle, a charge on behalf of all of the people inside the van at the time of the shooting
