Bell: appropriate actions will be taken

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - Birmingham Mayor William Bell isn't going to make any rash decisions after Birmingham Police officers were accused of using excessive force against a man.

Wednesday, Bell said all of the allegations made by Tavarious Daniel and his attorney, Charles Salvagio, will be fully investigated and if necessary, actions will be taken.

"We're also not going to operate off of rumors and innuendo," Bell said. "We want to know the facts of the situation before we move to take any action one way or the other."

Salvagio said his client was beaten unnecessarily by Birmingham Police officers on March 20. A police report from that night said that Daniel stole items from a car and failed to stop when officers attempted to arrest him.
