Tuscaloosa School Board to decide dress code policy

The Tuscaloosa City School Board is hoping to tighten up the student dress code policy. After discussing dress code issues with a committee of parents, teachers and students, the board decided not to mandate official school uniforms. Instead, the board plans to require students to wear I.D. badges.

The measures are intended to make schools safer and build pride through the student body, said board member Marvin Lucas.

The school board will finalize their decision about the dress code policy at their 6 p.m. meeting Tuesday evening.
