Scrushy's belongings on sale to pay down debt

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - This isn't your typical springtime yard sale. Six rooms at Richard Srushy's former riding barn will be filled with items for sale this weekend, including artwork, furniture, clothing, collectibles and sports memorabilia from the former HealthSouth CEO's homes in Palm Beach, Vestavia Hills and the one behind his barn.

Price tags on the items range from $5 Cole Haan shoes to $600 Bernhard leather club chairs to a $6,500 pair of autographed Muhammad Ali shorts. Gas tanks, a jukebox, rocking horses and an antique brass compass from the 1800s are also among the goods for sale.

All proceeds from the sale will go toward paying down Scrushy's debt of $2.8 billion a judge ruled he must pay back to shareholders in a 2009 civil judgement. Scrushy told his attorneys once all of these things go, he will have nothing left.
