Bullying bill passes legislative hurdle

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (RNN) - A bill that supporters say could curb the issue of bullying and harassment in schools passed a procedural hurdle Thursday. The bill is named for a Jemison teenager who took her life last year because her family said she was being bullied.

No senators spoke up against the bill. Several, however did raise concerns about how the law would be implemented and whether students would be limited to their current district if they want to change schools.
