Full dashcam video allowed in Bart Wayne Johnson's trial

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - When Bart Wayne Johnson goes to trial May 2, the Shelby County jury that will determine his fate will be allowed to see the entire dash cam video tape of the night Pelham Officer Phillip Davis was shot and killed. The decision to allow jurors to see the entire video came today during a status conference for the case. Johnson's attorneys asked that parts of the tape be excluded from the jurors' view, but that request was denied.

District Attorney Rob Owens has said that the dashcam video is one of the biggest pieces of evidence in the trial.

Johnson is charged with capital murder in Davis' death. He is pleading not guilty due to mental defect.
